Embrace the Process
Have you ever been through a situation that seems to drag on for days, months or even years!? SAME! Sometimes we just want it to be finished, and we just want our life to be where we THINK it should be and when WE think it should get there. Let me let you in on a little secret… Life’s about the process. The process IS the journey.
Let’s take for instance this website and blog posts. I had in my mind almost 5 years ago that I wanted to start a website to just kind of put my thoughts about life out there for people to read. I didn’t know what I wanted to become, but I just knew that I wanted to share ideas with other people. I wanted people to know how I thought and the depth of my thinking. I guess you can call me somewhat of a modern philosopher (minus all of the crazy education and credibility that comes with being a philosopher). I don’t like small talk. I enjoy getting to know about people and life in a deeper and more meaningful way.
So during this process of planning out the website and all that good stuff, I was still in my early 20’s so I still had a lot to learn. Although the desire to begin blogging was 100% there, for some reason, I just always put it on the back burner. I had ideas, but nowhere to put them. At one point, I just let the idea go altogether. At that time, I experienced things in life that I never thought I would have to experience. After life-altering situations occurred, I knew it was time. Time to start blogging.
I laugh because that was about 3 years ago at this point that I was ready to begin the processing of all that was to come of beginning a blog. What hosting (didn’t even know that was a thing) should I use, what did I want my actual website to be called, what was the “niche”, what was I passionate about, what did I want to share with others, what benefit would others gain when they read my blog posts, etc. It was a lot. Once that was all settled, then it was time to create content.
Before I finally started my website, I was prompted to start writing a book about the life lessons I learned. Who would have thought that what I learned would one day be used to share with others in a book?
Let me tell you something, I’m not where I want to be in regards to where I want my website to be, but I am well on my way.
I began writing my book. Then I started the editing, and am currently working on changing the entire outline of it. Again, the whole process is taking place.
What I want to share with you is that everything that I have going on with my website and book, has been years in the making. I’ve had to experience things, learn important lessons, struggle hurt, live, and share the things that are going up on this website and in the book.
The process is the journey of being a human being. You’ll get knocked down and feel like you can’t get back up. You’ll wonder if things will ever get better. You’ll wonder if the path that you’re going on to reach a specific goal is the right one that you’re hearing. You’ll want to crumple up all of the ideas you continuously write down to start all over again. You’ll want to wander and “try new things”.
Everything that you know in your heart of hearts that you’re supposed to be doing is not a coincidence or an ACCIDENT that was placed on your mind and soul. By faith, through Jesus, your purpose will be played out exactly the way that it’s supposed to. Everything has already been unfolding through the ups and downs.
During those times of uncertainty and doubt, recenter yourself and remind yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing. You were called to do this. You were purposely chosen for this journey and have this unique story to live!
You don’t know where to turn next? You see the stairwell but don’t know which step to take? TAKE THE NEXT ONE. Then the next. Just keep looking to the One who built this purpose into your soul before you were ever even conceived.
Enjoy the journey and the seemingly aimless wandering. I promise you’ll “wander” in the right place. Don’t overlook or wish for things to be different no matter how hard or how great things are. THAT’S when you need to 100% embrace everything that’s taking place in your life because ultimately this is the story that’s been unfolding from the very beginning.
Accept the process. Embrace it. Live it.
