These feelings come in waves for me during this time.
Something that’s been getting me the most is defeat or just plain tired.
Tired of it all. Tired of the news. Tired of the negativity. Tired of the uncertainty. Tired of the quarantine. Just plain tired.
To the point where I don’t want to do a DANG THING.
Like doing anything right now just doesn’t seem like it’d matter.
Then I stop sulking and start thinking about what my purpose is.
GUYS! My purpose isn’t to make myself feel comfortable or good, it’s to love God and love others.
If you’re having these same feelings and are starting to feel like you’re in a funk because of the Coronavirus dealio, let me tell you… YOU’RE NOT ALONE.
But you need to get out of it for the sake of OTHERS and start focusing on your purpose here during this specific time.
The few things that I’m having to focus in on are as follows:
Why am I allowing this chaos to overshadow my God-given purpose?
I’ve had more days now than I’d like to admit, where I’ve questioned my purpose and why it even matters if I continued creating content.
My purpose is to share the importance of having intentional relationships with God, others and yourself. But how do I do that in the midst of this craziness?
I do it by setting my eyes on what God has called me to. After writing this blog, I really thought about why I’m still not taking my own advice… sitting with God day in and day out.
It’s because this isn’t just a virus, it’s a spiritual war.
A war that will determine what and who our trust is in.
How can I determine my purpose during this crazy time?
It’s not for me to “determine” my purpose. My purpose is already determined.
I just need to continuously step into it.
You know those dreams, goals, and aspirations you have but haven’t had much time for?
Yeah, that’s your purpose.
You don’t just have those desires inside of you because YOU chose them. They’re preset into your identity and purpose for your time here on earth.
I’d say start off by doing a couple of things.
Start by talking to the One who put those desires there.
Ask Him what it is that you need to do in order to live out those desires according to HIS PLAN.
GUYS! I truly believe that this is a time that God’s allotted for the world to have time to focus their hearts, minds, and souls back on Him as a wake-up call.
RIGHT NOW IS THE TIME TO FOCUS!!!
If you aren’t a believer in God through the death and resurrection of Jesus, I want to urge you to seek the truth.
Now that you understand what it means to find out your purpose, it’s time to use this time to start living it.
START LIVING YOUR PURPOSE NOW
You might have all the excuses in the book right now. GET RID OF THEM.
Technology is such a gift from God right now. So use it!
I don’t know what your specific purpose is, but you do and so does God.
Whatever it is that’s been on your soul to do, start brainstorming ideas about it.
Start praying about these things that have been on your soul forever and a day.
You want to benefit from your purpose, don’t you?
Let me break it to you… YOUR PURPOSE ISN’T FOR YOU.
You were meant to live out your purpose so that OTHERS may benefit and that God may be glorified.
Doesn’t that sound so unfair? Yes. But let me give a little perspective.
LIVING OUT YOUR PURPOSE FOR OTHERS
This website is to help you learn to be more intentional in your relationship with God, others, and yourself.
SPECIFICALLY IN THAT ORDER.
When you’re sitting with God, asking Him what your purpose is, He starts revealing it to you.
He puts people on your heart to either pray for, reach out to or visit.
He starts putting His desires into your heart and you start noticing that you start looking OUTSIDE of yourself to want to start fulfilling these desires.
Then others start telling you how you did this or that “at just the right time” because they were dealing with something really hard.
Or they were feeling alone and you called them at that moment.
The more you start tuning into your relationship with God and living out the desires He’s putting on your heart, the more OTHERS are affected by you and the life you’re living.
You’re able to be used to be there for others. To give them the simple little reminders that they’re loved and noticed.
YOU SHOW AND SHARE THE LOVE OF GOD THROUGH SIMPLY SPENDING TIME WITH HIM SO THAT HE CAN DIRECT YOU TO THE PEOPLE WHO NEED HIM AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME.
RESULTS IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOURSELF
Now you may be wondering, “How does this help me become more intentional in my relationship with myself?”
I’m glad you asked.
The reason we feel like we don’t have a purpose in this life is that we focus too much on ourselves.
I know that sounds weird, but it’s true… I’ve experienced this many times over.
We feel depressed and upset about where we are in life. Like we aren’t measuring up to anything.
But let me ask you, have you ONLY been focusing on yourself?
When was the last time you put someone else’s feelings above your own?
When have you checked on someone when you felt like you really should have?
YOU’RE TOO FOCUSED ON YOUR OWN SEEMINGLY HORRIBLE PROBLEMS.
THERE ARE OTHERS WHO ARE GOING THROUGH THE SAME STUFF!!
The relationship with ourselves is important, but can’t improve unless we’re focusing on the other two relationships first and foremost.
You may have lost interest at this point, but hear me out.
Have you ever helped someone out and they were elated with excitement, gratitude, love, and happiness?
How did that make YOU feel?
I know that anytime I can hear a “You have no idea how much I needed this” response to something that I knew God wanted me to do, THAT is all I need to continue with what I’m doing in my life.
It’s a cycle, guys.
Focusing on your relationship with God will give you direction in your spirit about who needs some supernatural company.
That then sparks something in the relationship with that other person.
This results in you feeling fulfilled because of the positive impact that God used you for.
The more we focus and take time for God, the more He’ll give instructions on what to do next, and the more you grow as a person in your identity and purpose.
Does this make sense???
I pray that it does because I’ve been seeing it over the course of my life, and it’s such a beautiful cycle.
Now, during this time of quarantine, I want you to get to it.
Start talking to God through Bible reading and prayer.
Start having those phone calls, texts, Zoom calls, FB video chats, IG video chats, etc. with others.
Use technology during this time to figure out and start living your purpose.
Let’s stop over complicating it all and use this time wisely to grow in wisdom and understanding of what our purpose is.
May we all grow more intentional in each and every one of our relationships… starting with our relationships with God.
