5 Ways to be Intentional with Your Time; Quarantine Done Right

Tell me something… are you Netflixing all day?

On social media or aimlessly scrolling BY THE HOUR?

Making TikTok videos?

Do you want to feel like you made the most out of this quarantine time?

Don’t lose hope. There are still a lot of valuable things you can do while we all have the “time” right now.

Let’s all get focused and CHOOSE to be productive and purposeful people.

Here are some things that you can do to come out of this whole thing, having made a life-altering impact on your life or someone else’s life.

Call Someone and Ask Them How They’re Doing

There are so many ways to stay in contact with the ones you love.

Right now the hardest thing for me personally is not being able to hug my family and friends. The next best thing is video chat with them.

The specific apps I use are IG video chat, FB video chat, Google Duo, Zoom and Marco Polo.

All of these are free and they’re super helpful in still getting a visual on the ones you love.

Be sure that you have a decent internet connection or your peeps WILL look pixelated (lol). 

I think we sometimes forget the impact a simple phone call or text message can have on someone’s mental state.


If you don’t feel like having a long conversation over the phone, shoot them a text message just asking them how they’re doing during this time.

Make plans during this time for AFTER this all dies down. 

I was on a Duo chat just the other night with my uncle, and he mentioned setting up a family BBQ for after the quarantine is lifted, to give us HOPE and excitement about looking forward to something fun to do together.

I liked this idea because it’s a reminder that we’re all in this together, and we can look forward to the future regardless of what our current situation is.

Make the call. Contact someone today! Everyone is being impacted in some way shape or form.

Be the one to remind someone that they’re not alone and that they’re loved. 

 Create or Learn Something New

During this time, I’m brainstorming, organizing and planning the growth of my website and brand.

Before all of this time that I now have, I was working 8 hours a day, coming home, eating dinner, relaxing and then going to sleep and doing it all over again the next day.

Now that I have all of this time, I’m working to be intentional with my time, my energy (depending on what time I get up plays a key factor in this 100%), and my efforts to see the growth happen.

These are the few things that I’ve been working on and a couple of things that I actually want to create:

I’m working on:

  • Improving my website
  • Providing valuable and free resources for my subscribers and supporters
  • Organizing all of my calendars for blogging, YouTubing and writing my book
  • Having a regular routine that involves all of these projects

I plan on creating:

  • Multiple free resources for my audience
  • A sense of community around the topic of intentional relationships
  • My own products to sell on my website
  • A fully functioning page recommending small businesses
  • My book (will be finished in December 2020 and PUBLISHED in January 2021)

Now I tell you all of this in hopes of ENCOURAGING YOU.

What is it that you’ve been putting off because “you don’t have time”?

Well, guess what you have now?! TIME!

Get to whatever it is that you’ve been wanting to start or create.

Have you been wanting to paint? START PAINTING!

Wanted to start reading a new book? START READING A BOOK!

Do those things now, because, from the looks of things, we may have a little bit longer with this quarantine.

Might as well do something with your noodle while you wait it out.

Take Some Time to Clean Your House

This is such a funny thing to put on a list even for me.

I can typically give all the advice, but taking my own advice seems so hard. WEIRD.

We each have some sort of list for the things that need to be done at home.

You know the laundry that’s in the washer still and needs to go into the dryer.

Or the sink load of dishes that need to be washed, rinsed AND put away.

Or how ‘bout them floors that need to be swept and mopped…. ALL IN THE SAME DAY!

Or how about the dusting that SUUUUCKS!!!

Yeah, I have that list somewhere too… under some mail and random stuff on my table that needs to be cleaned off. 

NOW’S the time to take that list out, and start checking it off. 

5 Ways to be Intentional with Your Time; Quarantine Done Right

With my job still up and down, (I’m going in. Then I’m working from home. Then I’m not. Now I’m going in again) I feel like setting up any type of schedule with that cleaning deal is impossible.

The best advice I can give, even to myself, is to start from one corner of the house and make your way to the other side of the house.

Fully clean EVERY SINGLE square inch of a room before moving onto the next.

If it takes a couple of days, then it takes a couple of days.

As long as things are getting done each day, that’s all that really matters.

Your best bet is to start with the one thing you’ve been putting off even before all of this became a “stay at home life”.

Then continue the cleaning that you did/started last week.

Use This Time to Connect with God

I’m always going to tell anyone and everyone that this is important. Very necessary to your overall well being MIGHT I ADD.

There’re a lot of people who say that they don’t have time to go to church, read their Bible, pray, etc.

Some may even say that they don’t know much about being a follower of Jesus….

Why not use this time to search what TRUTH is and who God is? 

If you’re already a believer, use this time to set up a daily routine and habit of connecting with God first thing in the morning (I’m talking to myself here too).

Making God and time with Him, a  regular part of your life will make it THAT much easier to continue that schedule and MEETING with God even when things go back to “normal”.

I hope we all understand that there’s a major portion of this whole pandemic that’s caused people to look up to God.

Why not use it to ask Him what He wants you to be doing during this time?

It could simply be that He wants us to acknowledge Him in ALL that we’re doing.

Hey, I’m just saying, what could it honestly hurt to get connected with God during this time?

Concentrate on Your Purpose

This one goes hand in hand with connecting with God.

So we all have our purpose.

Some may THINK their purpose is better than the next person’s purpose, but I’m here to tell ya… NO ONE IS BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE!

Your purpose, especially during this time, is CRUCIAL to those that are around you.

You may find that hard to understand, but girl! (or boy!), only YOU have the purpose that you have. 

Do you know what your purpose is?

Right now is the best time to start figuring it out.

Each of us has one thing or another that we’re good at.

For me, it’s listening to people talk/vent and being able to adapt to help those in need.

You may be really good at making music, cooking, sewing, playing instruments, etc.

But there is only ONE YOU with YOUR STORY.

No one has the same purpose that you do.

You may be wondering, “How do I figure out my purpose?”

Talk to the One who specifically gave you that purpose and those gifts.

Ask Him how to use them and where to use them.

Then once you’ve zeroed in on those gifts, start using them wherever you’re feeling led to use them!

Concentrate on your purpose during this time to encourage and remind people that they have a purpose too.

It’s time to start living in your purpose now and get comfortable in trying to figure it out day by day.

I know right now seems uncertain and nerve-wracking, but control the things that only you can control.

That starts with YOURSELF and where you’re at.

Take this list and make it your own.

If you feel like you can make a better list of the things that you can be working on or creating, MAKE THAT LIST and start getting at it.

Don’t let this quarantine pass without you making the most out of it.

Come out of this a changed person. As someone who’s always seeking to better themselves and others.

Take the steps to become a better version of yourself at this time.

Stop scrolling, and start doing something productive!
