HOW TO KNOW WHEN GOD IS LEADING

In order for us to know if God is leading, there are a couple of things we have to keep our eye on.

HOW DO WE KNOW IF GOD IS LEADING US TO DO SOMETHING

If what we feel like we’re being led into is glorifying Him in some capacity, guess what?

WE’RE BEING CALLED TO DO HIS WORK.

He’s going to call us to what will glorify Him the most.

It might not be something super extravagant, but because the Creator of the world is even leading us in anything having to do with Him, makes this leading EXTRAVAGANT all on its own.

In Him leading us into this, we’ll feel prompted or almost urged to do a certain task.

Kind of like that feeling we get when we’re talking to a loved one, and we have this urge to want to hug them and we’re not sure why.

YEAH, like that.

If it’s something that keeps coming back to memory even after many years… God’s leading.

A great example of this for me…

Elementary school, I was prompted to start a Bible study.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!

That’s not “normal”.

I did get that thing organized though, but it never did get off the ground.

HOWEVER, at 30 years old, God is calling me to do something similar (still in the works) specific to that time in my life.

If we talk to our friends or family about this certain task at hand, any advice or opinion should be taken with a grain of salt and tested against the Bible.

This is to be sure that what people around us are saying, lines up with God’s words.

God will let us know through His words and His people if where we feel like we’re being led is right or not.

The cool part about knowing and getting this confirmation from God and His word is seeing things start unfolding before our eyes.

You know how we have this mindset sometimes of, “I can do X, Y, & Z and everything will start working out”?

When God starts confirming things for us, He’s starts opening our spiritual eyes to His power and mighty hand.

This may sound very odd, but when we start seeing things unfold before our very eyes, without much effort from us, we can be 100% sure that God is leading the way.

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO BE LED

Luckily, God doesn’t REQUIRE us to do anything for Him to lead the way.

But He does expect us to have a certain mentality and perspective when it comes to Him leading.

He wants us to be willing to have Him be the leader and call the shots.

Society says we’re the “boss babes”, which we can be, but ultimately we still answer to God and His leading.

He wants us AVAILABLE for what it is that He’s leading us to.

There’s a prayer that we as believers pray… you might know it.

It goes something like this, “Our Father, who’s in heaven… thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…”.

This prayer is surrendering to the will of God and simply saying that we’re available for whatever it is He’s leading us to.

So willingly being available to God’s leading is crucial to our walk with Him.

We clearly can’t do anything according to our will or by our own strength, so we have to be WHOLEHEARTEDLY dependent on God.

We have to trust Him for EVERYTHING, especially when it comes to this calling He’s called us to.

A quick reference of a guy who was dependent on God for everything (even his unbelief in what God was doing), is Gideon from the book of Judges.

He needed God to help him with his doubting and hesitations of God calling him to lead the Israelites.

He needed God to continuously remind him that what he thought God was calling him to was actually what was happening.

God assured Gideon over and over, and He remained so patient in leading him to and through the plan God had.

There were so many others that were dependent, willing, and available to be led by God and the plan He had.

We just have to be submissive to God in any and every capacity of our lives in order for Him to lead us.

HOW GOD IS LEADING ME IN MY LIFE AT THE PRESENT MOMENT

Blogging is something that I know God has been leading me to for years.

I continuously put it off and ignored the urgency I knew God was stirring inside of me.

Finally, with my hesitations, doubts, hiccups, uncertainties, trials, and everything in between, God’s leading me to talk to you guys about Him leading me (He cracks me up sometimes 🙂 )

He reminds me constantly that as I’m learning through His Word, the more He’s calling me to share that learning experience with you.

It did take me a while to start, but I’m grateful for the confidence He fills me with day in and day out to continue in this leading and calling on my life.

Another task He’s put on my heart for so long now (7 years to be precise) is a book on identity and purpose.

I think in me growing in blogging, He’s assured me (just like Gideon) that He’s still there leading the way, and I can trust Him.

He’s shown me the importance of identity and purpose specified in the realm of the younger women of this generation.

Young women need to know who and Whose they are.

Through that understanding, they’ll then understand their purpose in life.

So these 2 things are on my plate that I actively pray and seek the Lord about.

How do I know He’s calling me to them?

A couple of reasons (like I previously mentioned)

  • BLOGGING AND THE BOOK ARE USED TO GLORIFY HIM
  • BLOGGING AND THE BOOK ARE MY TESTIMONY (REV 12:11) ABOUT WHO HE IS IN MY LIFE
  • HE’S GIVEN ME THIS SPECIFIC GIFT, AND I’M CALLED TO USE IT.

IS GOD LEADING YOU INTO HIS PLAN?

Simply put, YES!

We, as the body of Christ, have a specific purpose and function within the body.

The arms can’t move without the wrists.

The head can’t move without the neck.

The legs can’t move without the torso, etc.

As the Lord leads us in our own individual walks, we’re contributing to the overarching important truth which is spreading the gospel by loving God and loving others.

We as a church need to heed this leading and calling on our lives and take it so very seriously.

It’s detrimental to the eternal lives of us, the ones we love and strangers ALL ALIKE.

We can’t be afraid to be the example to the world that the body of Christ is united through Him.

We shouldn’t be ashamed of the gospel (Romans 1:16).

We need to be around each other, pray together, for each other, worshipping together, and holding each other up in the tough seasons.

You and I have gifts that we are continuously being led to nurture and grow in.

We are all being led by God.

So pray about those things that have been on your mind for days, months, years, etc.

Write them down and watch God lead you into the calling He has for your life as well as for the church in glorifying Him.

I’m praying for you! 🙂
